Ed Parsons is Google’s chief geospatial technologist, responsible for evangelizing the “what," “how” and “why” of Google's mapping activities.
The former, and first, chief technology officer of the U.K. Ordnance Survey -- the U.K. equivalent of the mapping division of the U.S. Geological Survey -- Parsons says mapmaking is in his DNA.
“The day after my departure [from the U.K. government] was announced, Google called to see if I was interested in working for them,” Parsons wrote in an email to The Huffington Post. “The impact Google has had on the mapping industry made the answer a bit of a no-brainer.”
