Most of the cast wound up in the same place on the latest "Nashville," and that never happens. It all came together because Juliette planned a surprise birthday party for Deacon. Rayna roped Deacon's niece, Scarlett, into luring him to the venue. She even promised Scarlett that she and Gunnar could perform -- then almost regretted it when she learned how good they are.
Juliette allowed her mother to be a part of the festivities as well, despite her mother being fresh out of rehab. Unfortunately, the temptation proved too much for Jolene, who relapsed into alcohol. That meant Juliette had to escort her home and she didn't get to perform for Deacon. She also missed Rayna's heartfelt performance for him.
Jolene was seeing a counselor in the home to help her with her recovery. He arrived to check on her and once again tried to get Juliette to talk to him. This time, she actually did. She related the story of her ninth birthday. Her mother had actually rented out a place to have the party, but had to cancel it when she blew all their money on drugs and alcohol.
