Christion Jones made sure Alabama's three-peat bid got rolling quickly.
Following a three-and-out debut by the Virginia Tech offense in the first series of the game, the junior wide receiver from Adamsville, Ala., received the ensuing punt at his own 28-yard line. After backtracking a few steps, Jones navigated the waves the onrushing Hokies for a 72-yard touchdown.
Unfortunately for Tech, this return may not have even been Jones' most impressive of the night. After Frank Beamer's ACC squad cut the Alabama lead to 21-10 in the second quarter, Jones returned the kickoff 94 yards for his second score of the game.
