The Journal News, the newspaper that published the names and addresses of registered local gun owners in the wake of the Newtown shootings, reportedly hired armed guards to protect its office in West Nyack, N.Y., because of the backlash.
The Rockland County Times, a Journal News competitor, provided the scoop and apparently saw irony. "Guns are good for the goose but NOT for the gander," the Times wrote.
The Times cited police reports that said Journal News higher-ups were spooked by the negative reaction after the paper ran a map of licensed gun owners in Westchester and Rockland counties. So the Journal News hired heat-packing RGA Investigations to protect its Rockland County building.
